The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme at LWIS-AiS is a challenging two-year pre-university curriculum aimed at students aged 16 to 18. Recognized globally, the IB DP is designed to develop students who are knowledgeable, inquiring, and reflective, with a strong sense of international-mindedness and personal responsibility.
Curriculum Overview:
At LWIS-AiS, the IB DP offers a comprehensive curriculum across five subject groups: Language and Literature, Language Acquisition, Individuals and Societies, Sciences, and Mathematics. Students choose courses from each group, taking three to four at the Higher Level and the rest at the Standard Level , allowing them to explore subjects of interest while maintaining a broad academic scope.
Core Components:
The program’s core components—Theory of Knowledge , the Extended Essay, and Creativity, Activity, Service —are integral to the IB philosophy. TOK encourages critical thinking about knowledge itself, challenging students to question how they know what they know. The Extended Essay, a 4,000-word independent research project, allows students to explore a topic of their choice in depth, fostering skills in research and academic writing. CAS, on the other hand, emphasizes experiential learning outside the classroom, encouraging students to engage in activities that foster personal and social growth.
